There are very few people who haven’t seen the1991 Hollywood Blockbuster Robin Hood – Prince of Thieves starring Kevin Costner. But, did you know that some of the most iconic scenes of the movie were filmed here in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
The famous fight scene between Robin Hood and Little John was filmed at Aysgarth Falls in Wensleydale and the moment where Robin Hood bathes in the pool underneath the waterfall is Hardraw Force near Hawes also in Wensleydale.
Both spots are accessible to the general public. There is a national park car park at Aysgarth Falls and the location of the fight scene is only a short walk away. Access to Hardraw Force is through the Green Dragon pub in Hardraw for a small donation.
